We when previewed the list of items to choose from, both Steph and I had the giant chicken at the top of our lists. Even thought it's a Christmas chicken, we thought it would be great to use it for many holidays. 

So off we went to build it a "coop" and outfit her holiday wardrobe!

Unboxing the 4-ft holiday living hen from Lowes. item number 6030383.
We had the Holiday Living Hen shipped directly to my house. Since it's going to live at my house, we wanted to unbox and assemble it here.
Steph started by cutting away all the bubble wrapped that nicely cushioned the hen we got from Lowes.

The attachment points are easy to identify and the parts connect with zip ties. Be warned: it's glittery! You'll need to use your wet dry vac to clean up your workspace.

After assembling, we tested out the lights and all work!

For the two short sides, we cut 6 boards to 35.5 inches long and for the back longer side, we cut 3 pieces at 4 feet each.

This Valspar Duramax paint was a dream to use. It went on so smoothly and covered so well we only needed one coat.

Prior to putting the chicken in place, Steph tried out this Toro corded outdoor blower. It has a lot of features which we think makes it a really good value.

The Toro Ultra Blower 340-CFM 260 corded Electric handheld leaf blower has three interchangeable blower nozzles as well as it has the ability to vacuum and mulch!

After Steph cleared debris from the front door area, she moved the leaves to create a flat spot for our Holiday Hen display.

We put the fence panels in place and marked the hole placement. We then used this Project Source San Angelo digging bar to make the holes. It really worked well with very little effort.

The last step was to spread some straw and dress her in her holiday attire. This is the accessory that comes with the chicken.

And here she is dressed for fall. We found the dog bandana at Lowes in the seasonal department along with the holiday garden flag. The bandana is just tucked into the back frame of her neck.

And for Halloween, she gets to be a spooky ghost. All we did was cut holes in an old sheet for eyes, beak, and comb and draped it over her feathers. We added some Halloween caution tape to keep her from wandering from her coop!

When the sun goes down, the spooky ghost chicken comes out! Trick or Treat!
We had so much fun with our Holiday Living Chicken. She does make a statement in the front yard of my house! We are already thinking of ways we can add to her wardrobe for different holidays.
