The very first project we did with Wall Control was to reorganize the craft closet at Steph's house. But somehow, over the last seven years that we've used Wall Control in various areas of our homes, we never thought to use it in MY sewing/craft room. A few months ago, I took down a single panel of Wall Control from inside my closet as I wasn't using it. I decided to take it into my craft room, use some accessories and hooks we had on hand, pegged my notions, then propped it up against the wall to see if it was something I liked. I used it for a few weeks like that and decided that it was the perfect organization that I needed for the space. I liked having all my notions in one place where they were easy to get to and easy to put back into place. So join us as we add some much needed storage and organization to my space. It worked well until I accidentally bumped the table and it all came crashing down! But the temporary solution proved it was what I needed so it was time to make it permanent. Note: the wall color is hard to photograph. You'll notice it looks different in these first three pictures, but the color shown in this one is the most accurate. ![]() The first step, was to make a plan to determine how many panels I needed and what sort of accessories, shelving, and hooks I'd need. Once our order arrived the next step was to determine placement of the first panel. I wanted it close to the window and slightly higher than the table. Basically, we placed the first panel above where those plastic bins sit. That is a Husky adjustable work table so it's currently at a comfortable standing height. ![]() All the panels are installed the same way. There are six holes. If you install into a stud, you only need to use the screws included with the panel. If installing into drywall, you use the included wall anchor and screws. Mark the screw holes first, then drill pilot holes, add the anchors, if using, then screw the panel into place. Once the first panel is in place, it's really easy to add the remaining ones. ![]() That's a standard shelf to the right that holds an iron and pressing ham. On the left is an all-in-one shelf that might be my new favorite! Those bins with the needles and pins are easy to take down to get what you need and easy to put back into place. Actually that shelf on the right, is borrowed from my closet so there's now a weird makeshift shelf in the closet to replace it! It holds everything I need for a sewing project including scissors of all types, measuring tools, straight pins and clips, marking tools, and the much dreaded seam ripper. I can sit in my chair at the sewing machine and easily reach what I need including that frequently used seam ripper. The next two panels are pressing/ironing supplies. One reason I used that Fun Size purple panel was because the ironing board would have made the bottom of a full size panel basically unusable. This way I didn't waste a full size panel, plus I got to have a punch of color in the space. The panel with the shelving holds sewing materials. Please note: This is not a sponsored post.
