On a trip to Home Depot, we came across a new to us outdoor tool. We have invested in the Ryobi 18-volt line and are always looking for new tools to add to our collection.

This Cordless Grass Shear and Shrubber Trimmer seemed like the perfect addition to our outdoor tool line-up.

Check out the video to see Steph's use and review of the new tool.

Tools:

    • RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless Grass Shear and Shrubber Trimmer (Home Depot)

    • 3-IN-ONE 4 fl. oz. Multi Purpose Oil (Home Depot)

    • Xena Steel-toe Boots (Xena Workwear)

Although the label says it is $99, we were pleasantly surprised at checkout that it was actually on sale for $79!
Here's a look at the hedge trimmer which is part of the Ryobi expand it system of outdoor tools.
We have the Ryobi Expand-it outdoor tool system that includes a hedge trimmer. Steph finds it hard to use on these smaller bushes. That's why she was eager to try the smaller trimmer to see if it would be easier. Also, although it's easy to put together, the Expand-it system is a commitment to get out, prepare, and to use. It's not something you get out just to do a quick trim.
The tool comes either with or without a battery. We have plenty of Ryobi 18 V batteries so we bought the bare tool. It come with two cutting heads. One for bushes and the other for grass and weeds.

How to change the cutting heads on the Ryobi 18 v cordless grass shear and Shrubber trimmer.
The cutting heads are locked into place with this screw. It's easy to switch them out and lock them down to use. Remember to only change the cutting heads once you've removed the battery.
Prior to each use, lubricate the Ryobi 18 v cordless grass shear and Scrubber trimmer cutting blades with a 3 in 1 oil.

It was quick and efficient on the vertical sides as well.

With the trimmer attachment swapped out for the grass shear, it made quick work of cutting this hard to cut grass near the edge of the mailbox.

It was also perfect to use on the sides of the house!
Steph found this Ryobi outdoor tool to be perfect for smaller, quicker jobs around the house. It's light enough and small enough to use with one hand and is easier to get into tight spaces than the full-size Expand-it hedge trimmer. Pop in a battery and you're good to go in a flash!

It's a keeper!
