We just finished a large clamp and cement book holder. We love the look but also wanted to try a tiny version with a wood base. It seemed like it would be the perfect place to hold our business cards!

Materials and Tools:
  • Scrap Wood (we picked up this scrap at Woodcraft and it was labeled Ziricote)
  • Small C-Clamp
  • Danish Oil (Amazon)
  • WD-40 (Amazon)
  • Epoxy (Amazon)
  • Dremel (Amazon)
  • Dremel 194 High Speed Cutting Bit (Amazon)

Measure where you want to cut your scrap piece of wood. Make an outline of where the clamp will be placed. We really love the look of this two-tone piece of live edge wood.

Use a Dremel with wood attachment bit to remove the wood where the clamp will sit.

Our tiny vintage clamp was very rusty so we sprayed it down with some WD-40 and now it it turns easily.

To keep the clamp in place, we mixed up a two-part epoxy. I added a little purple glow powered because I thought it would look cool, but you can't see it in the final piece.

...or in a workshop. Which is where it will live!
This turned out better than I expected! I was not too sure how the Dremel would do carving out the wood, but I was really surprised at how easy it was to handle and get a nice cut in the wood. It's not perfect, but this is a handmade DIY and I love it! We have run into many occasions when we need to hand out our business card from the garage, so this is the perfect place to keep them.
