Learn how Bed Bugs get into YOUR house and other 'Creepy' Topics with Professional Bug Man Roger11/27/2017 text by Vicki Sign up to get Mother Daughter Projects updates in your email! Living in Florida, professional pest control service is a must. We have ALL the bugs and critters in Florida! My friend, Roger, of Rock Solid Termite and Pest Control has been my "bug man" for over 25 years. He comes once a year and takes care of all things creepy and crawly! When it was time for this year's annual service, we asked him if he would be willing to talk about pest control service for Mother Daughter Projects. He agreed and we asked him a whole bunch of questions resulting in three different videos! Below are a few of the questions we asked Roger about Pest Control. Watch the video to find the answers!
Does Your House Attract Termites?Having experienced a termite problem at my home years ago, I found the topic of termites very interesting. Roger was the first person I called when I noticed what looked like winged ants swarming in my back hallway. They were not ants but swarming termites! Yikes, that's the worst! It wasn't until many years later when my contractor opened up the walls during my home reno that the damage those termites caused was revealed. I share a couple of the pics in the video. At the time of the reno, there were no current infestations; everything that was discovered was old damage (and there was a lot of it!) Roger did have a very good piece of advice. Any time you have a wall open, you should call your bug man (or woman) to inspect the area for damage or infestations. After we found all the damage during the reno, we called Roger and he came over and did a lot of extra termite treatment while everything was open and accessible. Two Types of Spiders Living in YOUR HomeSpiders! They are really creepy and here in Florida, they can be really, really big! I've always been okay with the spiders as they do help control other bug species. Roger has convinced me that the ones inside need to go for cleanliness sake, but the outside ones, like the big banana spiders, should be left alone. Not only do those spiders catch and kill other bugs, but they are fascinating to watch. In this video, Roger talks about what spiders should go and which can stay! We certainly appreciate Roger taking time to talk to us. If you are in Tallahassee and you need pest control, give Rock Solid Termite and Pest Control a call (850-386-7872). Thanks for pointing out that if there ever would be a time when I would have to open up my walls for renovations, it would also be a good time to get a pest control service to treat them with anti-termite measures. One of the trees in my yard recently has been infested with termites and I'm quite worried that they might migrate to my house soon enough. Perhaps preemptively calling in a pest control service to deal with them early would be a wise decision.
