Pool Noodle Lights

Pool noodle floating tea lights. MotherDaughterProjects.com
These fun pool noodle lights were done in a flash. "Shopping" Vicki's stash, we found everything we needed: flower's shaped pool noodle, battery operated lights, serrated knife to cut the pool noodle, and plastic wrap. The original directions we followed showed using plastic wrap to cover the bottom of the tea light before tucking it into the noodle. We found by using a thicker cut noodle the plastic didn't seem to be necessary as the tea lights sits up high out of the water.

I bought everything to make these but was wondering if you had to make a cut out for the candle to fit into or if the shape of the noodles were just right to set the candle in?

The noodles pictured are the large ones and the battery operated lights fit perfectly. If you use the smaller ones, you may have to cut the center out a bit to make it fit.

Hi Susan! The light fits snuggly into the pool noodle and they stay together nicely. We have had these over a year outside and they are still together. We also made another version if you want to check that out too: http://www.motherdaughterprojects.com/blog/holiday-pool-noodle-lights

I didn't realize that these were flower shaped pool noodles. I have combed the internet trying to find flower shaped pool noodles. Where can I purchase flower shaped pool noodles?

How do you get the noodles to stay together I tried hot glue but it melted the noodles

These are actually flower shaped noodles. I've found them at yard sales. I did see them on sale on Amazon. See link in above comment. It's best to use a glue made for plastic and is okay for use in the water if you're going to be glueing. You're right, hot glue will melt the noodles and really doesn't hold well. I have see other shapes available in stores this summer season if you can't find the flower ones.
