DIY Backyard Bonfire Starter

I (Steph) have been making these fire starters for a few years now because they work so well in my backyard firepit. They use simple materials that I would normally trash or recycle, so this is a great way to "use what you have" and recycle materials in a new way!

Materials:
  • Cardboard egg carton (Trader Joes)
  • Dryer Lint (keep a jar by your dryer to collect lint)
  • Floss
  • Old candles or wax
  • Heat gun (Amazon)

Find an old candle you have around the house or buy some wax. Melt it using a double boiler or use a heat gun. Make sure you melt it in a container that is made for heat.

Once melted, dip each firestarter in the wax to completely coat the cardboard

Let dry, then start your fire

We love this DIY because you can use materials from around your house that you would normally trash. It's great to make a bunch of these so you always have them on hand for your next bonfire!
