A wet dry vac is a "must-have" addition to your garage. We've tried several as part of The Home Depot ProSpective campaign. Each has it's own unique characteristics. In this post we are trying out the Ridgid 14 gal wet dry vac. What makes this one unique is the auto detail kit that is included!

We knew this was going to be the perfect tool for tackling Steph's very messy--furry and sandy--car! This vac took care of about seven months of ground in doggy dirt!

Tools:

  • RIDGID 14 Gal. 6.0-Peak HP NXT Wet Dry Vac with Auto Detail Kit (Home Depot)

  • Gonzo Natural Magic Odor Eliminator Bag (Home Depot)

The orange hose and the box full of attachments comes with the auto detailing kit. I personally think the orange hose is superior to the standard one as it is much more flexible, which in turn makes it easier to store.
The Ridgid auto detailing hard bristle brush.
The included brush with stiff bristles helps to loosen up the dirt on the carpeted back of the seats. I don't know what material this is, but it is really difficult to clean. My car is like this as well. It's like it's made to attract and hold dog hair and dirt!

The soft bristle brush is much gentler and is perfect for car seats.
Cleaning the car with the Ridgid wet dry vac.
Despite always covering the back of the seats when Mac is in the car, the fur managed to work its way into the seat back! Ug. Notice the hearing protection. Like most of the wet dry vacs we've tried, this one is loud. Be safe, protect your ears!
The Ridgid Wet Dry vac crevice tool.
A crevice tool is indispensable for thoroughly cleaning up the car!

I don't know about you, but cleaning the car is not my favorite chore! Both Steph and I tried out the auto detailing tools included with the wet dry vac and were very impressed.

The auto detailing kit can be bought separately from the vac, so if you already own a wet dry vac, this may work with it.

Tell me, what is your least favorite chore? What car cleaning tips did I leave out? Please share in the comments below.
