This post is about a product you have never given a second thought to. If you've ever caulked anything, you went to the store, bought the caulk and probably another gun since the once you had at home was a gunky mess and completed your project. You probably had a few choice words to say as you dealt with caulk that came out to fast or too slow, or that produced lines that were took thick or not thick enough, and continued to ooze once you took your hand off the trigger.

Ryobi has reinvented the caulk gun into a battery powered tool that takes the mess and frustration out of home caulking projects. This is a tool you never thought you needed, but once you see it, you know you must have it! (Well, maybe that's just us!)

The caulk or adhesive you are using slide into the holder just like a manual gun. Notice that little metal rod on the outside of the holder. That lifts up so you can puncture a hole if your caulk is sealed.

Tools:

  • Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Power Caulk and Adhesive Gun (Home Depot)

This controls the speed of the caulk as it comes out of the gun.

When you're ready, insert the battery, and press the trigger. Moving the gun faster or slower helps to regulate the size of the caulk coming out of the tube. Move it faster, you get a thinner line.

Moving the indicator all the way to the bottom pushes out a lot of caulk. You might need this setting if you're filling a large crack.

Looks like cake decorating! Maybe Ryobi can come out with a cake decorating frosting gun. Battery power gives you a consistent bead of caulk the entire length of your project.

This line was produced with the slowest setting but moving the gun faster. This would be good for bathroom caulking where more precision is needed.

We tested the caulk gun on an outdoor project at Steph's house. The old caulk had started to separate leaving the crack exposed. We started by removing the old caulk.

Since the crack was wide we used a medium speed setting and moved slowly down the row.

What else can I do with this: If it comes in a tube, you can use this caulk gun--think adhesives as well as caulk. If you have a big outdoor painting project looming, this would definitely be a big help!

Yep, that's a whole tube of caulk! We were able to get every last drop of the tube with this tool!
