I've always been skeptical of "as-seen-on-TV" products. Are they really as good as they seem to be?

When Steph said she wanted to try this magnetic closing screen door for the dogs, I certainly had my doubts!

But, this particular "as-seen-on-TV" product turned out to be just as advertised! Surprise!

Read on as we share our review.

Product:

  • Upgrade Reinforced Magnet Fiberglass Mesh Door, IKSTAR Screen Doors Instant Closure, Pet/Kids Walk Through Freely, Heavy Duty Mesh Net for Patio Sliding Doorways, Fit Doors Size Up to 38" x 82" (Amazon)

  • Window Screen Repair Kit - 5"x7" Patch Charcoal (2 Patches) (Amazon)

We put the magnetic self closing screen door on a sliding glass door.
This sliding door leads out to a screened-in porch. We wanted to be able to give the two greyhounds some freedom to come and go outside as they needed, but needed a way to keep bugs out of the house. This magnetic auto closing screen door seemed like the perfect option.
Applying the velcro to the outside edge of the screen..
Installation of the screen door couldn't be easier as it is attached to the door frame with velcro. Here I'm applying the velcro all around the outside edge.
To install, you simply peel of the protect covering on the velcro and stick it to the door frame!

For the side without a door frame, we simply stuck it to the half of the sliding door that doesn't move. It's not an elegant solution, but it works!
It's easy for humans and doggies to go through.

Both greyhounds learned how to get through the door in a very short amount of time.
When the greyhounds want to go out, they simply duck their heads and push through. It only took a short time for each of them to learn how to go through.
The door to the porch is left open during the day so Mac and Tosh can freely go in and out. Mac especially likes to go out to lay in the sun several times a day!

We discovered a cut in the screen.
Steph noticed a cut in the screen at some point. We don't know if it was always there or if we accidentally cut it along the way. Anyway, it needed to be repaired.
Using Screenmend to repair the cut place on the magnetic screen door.
Steph discovered this product a while back and successfully repaired a hole in the porch screen door with it. That repair has held so we knew it would work on the magnetic screen door.
ScreenMend makes repairing small holes or slits in screens super easy!
ScreenMend makes repairing small holes or slits in screens super easy! You cut it to size, peel off the protective back, put it in place, and heat it with a hair dryer.
The greyhounds are patiently waiting to go through the door!
Release the hounds!
The screen door works just as we hoped it would!
The END!
I certainly had my doubts about this product, but it has proven to be perfect. The dogs can come and go without human help and the bugs stay outside!

Have you ever used a "as-seen-on-TV" product? What have you found that that actually lives up to the hype?
