This is a sponsored project by Sunjoy.

This is the perfect time of year to be thinking about your spring into summer outdoor living space.

By partnering with Sunjoy, maker of outdoor structures, Steph and I were able to transform her backyard into a personal retreat with a soft-top gazebo as the centerpiece.

While scrolling through the Sunjoy website to determine which gazebo to choose, we were immediately drawn to this one.

As we live in Florida, I think you can figure out why! (Mosquito netting!)

Products:

  • Sunjoy Outdoor 9.5x9.5 Gazebo (Sunjoy)

  • Sunjoy Egg Cuddle Chair (Sunjoy)

  • Sunjoy Flameless LED Candle Lantern (Sunjoy)

  • Husky 3/8 in. drive 100-Position Gimbal Palm Ratchet (Home Depot)

Unboxing all the parts to the Sunjoy soft top gazebo with netting.
I think there is a big concern when ordering something to be delivered, is the condition of the product once it arrives at your house. Despite there being a bit of damage to the box during transport, everything inside was in perfect condition. To prep for assembly, we unwrapped everything while in the garage before we took it outside. We did leave the soft tops packaged until we needed them.
Sunjoy includes a wrench that you can use to assemble the gazebo.
Two wrenches are included to tighten all the nuts. If you have a ratching wrench, it's much easier to use. The nuts take a 10mm socket. Here we are adding the connectors to the tops of the four posts.
Connecting the top of the Sunjoy gazebo structure.
Okay, the instructions CLEARLY say that three people are needed to assemble this. We're just two, so we figured out a way that we could safely lift the posts to connect them to each other. Do yourself a favor and try to add a third person to your assembly team!
Working to lift the four post to assemble the top of the sunjoy outdoor gazebo.
Here the gazebo posts are in place ready to continue assembling the sunjoy gazebo.
Success! We got the four posts in place connected by the cross bars. High fives all around!
adding the arc braces to each of the sunjoy gazebo corners.
Adding the arc braces is the most difficult and time consuming part of the gazebo assembly. But as you can see in the video, we worked out a process by the fourth install that made it way easier!
adding the canopy support as we continue the assembly of the Sunjoy outdoor gazebo.
The canopy support was assembled on the ground and then lifted into place. Although there are lots of bolts and nuts used in this assembly, there are also push button connectors that easily connect many of the parts.
Almost finished as we attach the gazebo canopy to the roof support.
Here we are adding the soft-top canopy to each of the four corners. The canopy attaches to the middle of each side as well.
adding the bug netting to the interior of the Sunjoy gazebo.
There are plastic rings included that attach to loops around the top of the netting. Once these are in place, they are attached to the railing around the interior of the gazebo. It's much like hanging a shower curtain.
Add the finishing touches starting with this LED flickering outdoor battery powered hanging lantern.
Sunjoy also sells accessories like this flickering three-light lantern. We got two and hung one from the center hook and the second hangs on a garden hook next to the chair.
A before picture of the space where the sunjoy gazebo will sit.
This is the space BEFORE. Because this space is not level we did have to do a bit of prep prior to assembling the gazebo. The ground is still not level, but the important thing is we were able to be sure the gazebo itself was on level ground.
Sunjoy sells this swivel egg cuddle chair which is so comfortable.
And AFTER. That egg cuddle chair is also sold on Sunjoy's website. It is the perfect accessory to making this a private, comfortable personal outdoor oasis!
The finished sunjoy gazebo with egg chair and lanterns.
That patch of artificial turf is Tosh's place to lay. Every time we hang out in the space she is right there with us! Although this is a personal retreat for Steph we can easily bring in chairs for a larger group.

The netting on the Sunjoy gazebo can be zipped up to protect from flying bugs like mosquitos.
The LED battery powered lanterns uses c batteries.
