Home Decor Idea: Light Chain + Metal Pipe

Here is a quick LED lighting idea for any home using metal pipe!

Are you ready for a home decor project that is so simple it doesn't really need a tutorial?! This metal pipe and string light statement light fixture will do nicely!

In December, we picked up this string of lights in Ikea's clearance section. They were marketed as Christmas lights, but we thought they were classic enough to use any time of the year. There are lots of these kinds of lights on the market so you shouldn't have to wait until Ikea has a sale to get a set.

Materials:

Light Chain (Ikea)
1/2" Pipe Flange (Home Depot)
1/2" x 4" Black Pipe (Home Depot)
1/2" Black Cap (Home Depot)
(4) Wall Dog Screws (Amazon)
WeMo Smart Plug (Amazon)
Cable Cover (Amazon)

The string of lights is simply hung over a metal pipe which has been screwed into the wall.

The lighting is great for a dark corner of a room that needs a little perking up. We pulled in the stump tables to help camouflage the outlet.

That round part on the wall is the flange which is screwed into the wall. We used wall dogs to attach it to the wall, which is an anchor and screw in one.

The string lights are plugged into a Wemo device.

The light strand was plugged into a Wemo smart plug. That's a cord cover on the wiring. White would be best but black is all we had.

The Wemo plug makes the string lights now controllable via an app on Steph's iPhone. It can be set to automatically turn on and off.

This lighting fixture adds a touch of fun and whimsy to the room. Its simplicity makes it a DIY most everyone can do!
