We want to thank The Home Depot for sponsoring this post!
The install for this Ring wired security camera is as simple as plug in and go! There's a little more to it than that, but not much more. The most difficult part of the install was deciding where to place it. Watch the end of the video to see who's placement wisdom won out!

This is the second Ring product we've installed. We've been using it for a few weeks now and couldn't be more pleased with its features and ease of use.
How to install the Ring outdoor security camera.

Product:

  • Ring Spotlight Cam Wired Outdoor Rectangle Security Camera (Home Depot)

The Ring wired security camera right out of the box.
Here's everything right out of the box. It even includes a drill bit and screwdriver might need for installation. It comes with written instructions, but we used the video in the Ring app.
Download the Ring App to set up your device.

Plugging in the wired security camera.
We are installing the wired version of the camera. There are battery powered ones as well as a solar version.
Screw the mounting plate to the wall.
We tested out several locations to place the camera, but this was the best. The mounting plate is screwed into the wall.
Put the camera onto the mounting plate.
Once the mounting plate is secured, the camera is put into place.
Doing a little cable control
Steph finished up with a little cable control. She was able to tuck the cord into the vinyl edges along the doorway.

The camera comes with a 30-day trial of Ring Protect. This service allows you to watch recorded videos of motion from your camera, share videos, and more. This service is not necessary to use the live feature, as well as the ability to talk through the camera and sound the alarm.
Ring Protect Plans start at $30 a year and can give you even more piece-of-mind when it comes to home security. Click here to visit the Ring website and learn more about the plans.
This is the view from the camera.
The placement of the camera in the porch gives a side to side view of the backyard. Even though the camera is inside, the motion activation feature still works very well and can pick up motion when ever the camera "sees." Alerts are sent to Steph's phone when motion is detected.
The products comes with these
The product even comes with these security stickers!

One of the nice things about Ring is the ability to share the app. Steph has shared both her doorbell and backyard camera with me. I can monitor these areas as well. It's especially nice if she's not home and packages are delivered. I'm alerted so I can go get them and put them safely in her house.

Also, it's kind of fun to heckle her though the voice feature when she is out there working on the porch! Ahh, fun with technology! (She can also deny me access at anytime to the cameras!)
