Learn how to make a window valance for any curtain. Perfect for a rustic feel.
After we finished the pallet peel and stick headboard, Steph surveyed her room and thought, "it just doesn't look finished! I know what it needs, curtains!" She shared her idea and I was on board. After thinking about it overnight, I came up with an idea using wood dowels and metal pipe caps.

She started working on the project with her ideas and mine and it came together as planned! Also, a few weeks prior, we were given a sample of Eclipse Block Out panels to try out. When we got them we didn't know where we were going to use them, but realized the color and length would be perfect for her bedroom!

  1. Measure and mark pallet board fronts and side pieces. Sand both sides lightly if desired.
  2. Cut pallet pieces to size on miter saw
  3. Drill hole in two side pieces
  4. Spread glue on side pieces
  5. Brad nail side pieces to fronts
  6. Stain dowels, once dry, cut to length
  7. Use a metal file to slightly narrow the ends of the dowel so the cap will fit
  8. Using the level, determine placement of the brackets and screw into the wall
  9. Screw the bracket to the side pieces. Slide dowel into place, attach one end cap, slide curtain into place and attach the second end cap!

Oh, those mini blinds! They collect dust and do a pretty poor job of blocking the light. Steph was happy to have them gone! The curtains are a perfect addition to her room and solve the problem of light peeking through her windows. This was a quick and easy project and give the windows a finished look.

Please note: We are not sponsored by any of the companies/products that we used. We did receive the curtains for free from Eclipse.
