Using pallet wood for the candle holder base.
All the material used in the build, Steph found in our ever growing stash of cut-off of wood and metal. She chose a well-aged piece of pallet wood and a couple of pieces of metal. Here she is determining how long to cut the base.
We used a DeWalt portable band saw.
Here's all the things Steph used in the build. That's a portable band saw on the far left and the blue thing in the back is a portable drill press.
Cutting small pieces with the DeWalt band saw is so easy.
Cutting small pieces with the DeWalt band saw is so easy. This is the one tool that we thought we'd never use, but ended up using it a lot!
Using a Rockler drill press.
Here Steph is using a Rockler drill press to accurately drill the hole for the lighter to be stored.
We used Milwaukee drill bits to drill through the metal bar.
She used the press again to drill holes into the flat bar of metal. See the materials list for the drill bits she used.
She cut the base to length on the Milwaukee miter saw.

Attaching the metal bar to the base of the candle lantern stand.
The flat bar is screwed into the base through that hole she previously drilled through the metal.
Creating the stand for the candle lantern.
The fit of the top bar is tested and to mark where the grooves need to be made. The grooves will insure the lantern and wick snuffer will stay in place.
Here's a good way to use a Dremel 194 carving bit.
Steph put the rod into the vice and used a Dremel carving bit to carve out a couple of simple grooves.
Steph first secured the rod to the flat bar with Gorilla Glue but that didn't work but the Loctite super glue did.

The candle lantern stand all finished.
There's a place for the lantern, lighter, and snuffer.
Home decor candle lantern DIY.
The little camping lantern, can now take it's place as home decor!
This new candle lantern stand is a perfect addition to Steph's rustic home decor. It looks intention now rather than just a little candle sitting on a counter.

I love that all the accessories are conveniently stored neatly with it.
