The back patio at my house (Vicki) has been undergoing a refresh. Part of the refresh was moving the hardshell kayak which left the perfect place for a deck box.

The reason for the box was to store the kayak wheels and paddle. The squirrels have been nibbling on the paddle so we wanted to put it out of their reach.

Plus, who doesn't need more storage for outside stuff or other stuff that needs a home?!

Product:

  • Keter 165-Gallon Resin Outdoor Deck Box (Sam’s Club)

  • Keter 165 Gallon Weather Resistant Resin Deck Storage Container Box Outdoor Patio Garden Furniture (Amazon)

  • Weatherproof and Outdoor Combination Padlock (Amazon)

  • Husky 62 in. W x 24 in. D Adjustable Height Solid Wood Top Workbench Table in Black (Home Depot)

  • Husky Magnetic Bowl (Home Depot)

  • DAP Products Tank Bond Thread Stopper Tape (Amazon)

The Keter deck box is from Sam's Club.
We got this Keter deck box at our local Sam's club.
We used mobile check out at Sam's to buy our Keter deck box.
Our Sams tends to put seasonal reduced items at the exit; the logic of which escapes me! Anyway, we used mobile checkout to buy the box right in the exit line which is super convenient!
All the parts of the Keter 165 G deck box ready for assembly.
We always lay everything out to check that we have all the parts and that everything is in good condition.
The small parts of the Keter deck box are safely packaged together.
All the small parts are groups together so that nothing gets lost. That is always appreciated!
Use the QR code to download a digital version of the Keter assembly manual.
The manual is Ikea style: all pictures no words. You can also use the QR code to access a digital version. That circle thing is a Husky magnetic screw holder. It's really convenient to keep track of all the screws and other small metal parts.

The first step is to slide in these metal supports into the top edges of the front and back sides.

With all the sides snapped into place, it's time to move onto the lid.

This box holds a LOT! There's room for the kayak wheels and paddle and much much more!
Adding DAP Tank Bond thread stopper tape to the Keter deck box hinge screws.
This is the Keter deck box that's been in use for two years at Steph's house. The only problem with the box has been with the screws that hold the back lid hinge. These have worked themselves out. Here we are applying a new thread locking tape to see if that solves the problem.

The box is conveniently placed near the hardshell kayak on the back patio.

I've already filled up the new deck box with a random assortment of stuff including the kayak gear and outdoor chair cushions. This thing is huge and holds a lot!

I love our box too. I love this video since those directions are tough to follow...plus I love your commentary.
